Our Purpose
At Berkley Chapel we teach verse-by-verse through the Bible.
Our Teaching
This is called “expositional teaching”. We seek to understand and explain the original meaning of scripture so we can better understand what it means to our lives today.
Expositional teaching is the only kind of teaching that opens up the entire Bible in a clear, authoritative way so the truth of God’s Word can transform our lives and renew our minds. So, instead of trying to bring the Bible into modern times, we seek to take people back into Biblical history and allow the Bible to come alive. This is the heart of Biblical exposition.

Pastor Dave and Gina Melendez
Dave Melendez is the Lead Pastor of Berkley Chapel, a church that launched in Auburndale, Florida in 2006. He started his role as Lead Pastor in 2014 and the church has since grown into a thriving church of 1,000 in attendance. Dave is driven by his passion for loving people, reaching the lost, and helping people understand the Bible.
Through his unique teaching style, vision casting, and gift of leadership, Dave encourages people to live out Berkley Chapel’s vision: “Helping people find and follow Jesus”. In his free time Dave participates in competitive Crossfit and is a huge Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan! He was also a break-dancer in high school so if you ask him, he might show you some dance moves. Dave and his wife, Gina, have three children, Brittany, Brianna, and Brandon.
